At St Gregory's, our Economics curriculum is designed to ensure learners are able to engage with the topics and understand the economic environment in which they engage every day. Economics is the study of how individuals, businesses, governments, and societies allocate resources to satisfy their needs and wants. It delves into the production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services, exploring the mechanisms behind decision-making, resource allocation, and market interactions. Economics encompasses both microeconomics, which focusses on individual agents and markets, and macroeconomics, which examines aggregate phenomena such as inflation, unemployment, and economic growth. By understanding economic principles, students can analyse real-world issues, make informed decisions, and contribute to shaping policies that influence the well-being of individuals and societies. Our curriculum aims to equip students with the analytical tools, critical thinking skills, and economic literacy necessary to comprehend complex economic phenomena, engage in reasoned debate, and participate actively in the global economy as responsible future business people and leaders.

Our AQA A-Level Economics curriculum aims to cultivate analytical minds capable of understanding and navigating the complexities of global economic systems. Grounded in real-world application, our program fosters critical thinking, data analysis, and problem-solving skills essential for success in higher education and beyond. Key areas of focus include:

  • Microeconomic principles and market behaviour
  • Macroeconomic concepts and policy implications
  • Economic models and theories
  • Evaluation of economic data and trends
  • Application of economic principles to contemporary issues

Through rigorous study and practical engagement, students develop a deep understanding of economic theory and its practical implications, preparing them to thrive in a dynamic and interconnected world.
