A journey of dedication and community

My journey to St Gregory’s began while I was taking a break from teaching to raise my daughters. I participated in a toddler group at the school, organised by Mrs. Gailey and facilitated by her Year 10 class. During our conversations, I shared my teaching background and my intention to return to the profession soon. Mrs Gailey recommended exploring supply work at St Gregory’s, which I did. This led to my employment as a Supply Teacher in 2012. The warm and welcoming atmosphere among the staff and students impressed me, prompting me to apply for a temporary position in the RE department when it became available. Fortunately, I was appointed to the role!

I am now the Assistant Leader in the Religious Education Department, primarily involves overseeing Key Stage 3, and ensuring a comprehensive and enriching learning experience for our students.

What I have most enjoyed about my time at St Gregory’s is the profound sense of belonging within a community that acknowledges, supports, and values each individual. Teaching here is more than just a profession; it is a vocation. At St Gregory’s, I genuinely appreciate being part of a community where I can contribute to the well-being and education of numerous students.

I am immensely proud to be part of a strong Religious Education team and to contribute to an inclusive and engaging learning environment. I take pride in creating a space where students can explore and understand various religious perspectives with curiosity and respect. Developing a curriculum that meets educational standards while inspiring critical thinking and empathy is particularly rewarding. I am dedicated to instilling a passion for learning about different faiths and cultures and promoting tolerance and understanding in our diverse and interconnected world.

My two daughters are currently studying at St Gregory’s, with one in Year 11 and the other in Year 12. We chose St Gregory’s for their education because of its commitment to providing a comprehensive and enriching learning experience. The supportive and nurturing environment created by the dedicated staff aligns with my vision of a well-rounded education that goes beyond academic achievements, fostering personal growth and character development. The school’s focus on fostering a sense of community and inclusivity also played a significant role in our choice.

I highly recommend St Gregory’s to anyone considering joining the staff team. The school’s supportive, warm, and friendly environment fosters personal and professional growth. Newcomers are warmly welcomed and receive substantial support, with numerous opportunities for development. St Gregory’s truly is a delightful place to work and grow.
